How to Get a Virginia Medical Marijuana Card Online: Your Step-by-Step Process

Step One:

Meet With an MMJ Doctor (Like Us!)

The first step is to see a doctor who is licensed by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy to prescribe medical marijuana. They will need to diagnose you with a condition that they believe could benefit from marijuana treatment.

After your physician has diagnosed you, they will give you a written certification that you will then use as part of your registration process.

Step Two:

Get Approved and Register With the State

Once you have your registration, the next step is to apply for a card online through the Virginia Board of Pharmacy. As part of the online application, you’ll provide some basic information about yourself, including your address and Social Security Number.

You’ll also submit the written certification from your doctor. Additionally, you will need to prove your Virginia residency with a driver’s license or state ID.

Finally, you’ll need to pay the application fee of $50.

Step Three:

Start Shopping!

After submitting the application, the Virginia Board of Pharmacy will review it and make a decision in one to two weeks.

VA no longer requires a physical card, so you will have to present your ID and physician’s form at the dispensary to start shopping.
